Crip (we contain multitudes)
143 photographic collages from videostill in paper-covered boxes, dimensions variable
A3, A4, and A5 laserjet prints on recycled copy paper
collages 2022-5, first site specific installation 2026
Crip (we contain multitudes) addresses the multiplicity of human experience through everyday materials, standardised formats, and the persistent anticlockwise (non-normative) growth of bindweed. Each collage is composed of multiple prints of the same image – a video still from the moving image portrait Here, Now – produced at various familiar ‘photo package’ sizes. As sunlight enters the artist’s studio, the paper edges curl slightly, casting shadows that introduce a sense of movement and three-dimensionality. The collages are photographed against a white background, printed on recycled copy paper, and housed in grey A3, A4, and A5 boxes. Subtle shifts in placement during the collage process generate 143 works that are the same yet different, each conveying a feeling of growth, purpose and vitality.
